The Most Important Facts at a Glance

  • The registration for participation in the TM-BASE is only made online.
  • Attendance at the test is subject to payment of a fee. The fee can be paid by credit card (MasterCard, Visa) or by means of online direct debit payment. It is not necessary that you are the holder of the credit card or the owner of the payment account.
  • The test takes place on several Saturdays; there is one date in April, two dates in June and one date in October. You are only allowed to attend the test once per calendar year.
  • Admittance will only be granted after presentation of a valid official photo identification and the test invitation letter. Notepaper and pens are provided in the test centre (use of your own pens and notepaper is not permitted for security reasons).
  • The TM-BASE, including registration, admittance and introduction, will take approx. 5 hours. The test will take place twice per day; one test in the morning and one test in the afternoon.
  • Please prepare well for the test day. Process the exercise examples and familiarise yourself with the demo version of the computer-supported test system. Inform yourself in due time on the access routes to the test centre.
  • The following will not be allowed: opening of browser windows that are not intended for the test, or opening of programmes that are installed on the PC. This also applies to bags, jackets, coats, headgears1, books, watches, calculators, writing utensiles, text markers, cameras in all forms, mobile phones, one’s own notice paper, MP3 players, writing cases, spectacle cases, mascots and the like.
  • Foods in the test room are allowed; they can be brought along in a transparent plastic bag (as used at the airport). The test room includes tables where food can be stored and consumed.
  • Please carefully observe the oral instructions of the test supervisor. These oral instructions as well as the correspondingly handed-out written instructions are decisive.
  • During the time intended for a certain group of exercises you are only allowed to navigate within this group of exercises.
  • Guess in case of doubt! You will not lose points for incorrect answers.

1Exceptions are possible e.g. in case of headgears and garments, that are worn for religious reasons. However, it must be ensured at any point in time of the test execution that the supervisor can prove the participant’s identity. Moreover, it has to be excluded that the items can be used for any violation of the test rules.
